I wonder if you would feel better if you put the lime in the coconut and drank them both together….? Some day I will experiment and let you know.

Today is one of those dark gloomy days mostly seen in Vancouver and not Newport Beach, but the last two day have been like that here. Makes me want to get some fake logs for my gas fireplace. I’ve been working on my personal webpage the last few days and have gotten the foundations finished. You can check it out here. It may seem like a waste of time to put so much effort into a page that I frankly don’t need, but by working on my own webpage I learn in a real way how to take an idea and design and turn it into a working website. All the classes, videos, and textbooks I’m reading don’t give you much more than an idea of how to go about it. So, many things go awry or affect your page in ways that you could’t have guessed that it’s pretty much the only way to really learn – the textbooks and videos are all worked out in advance to give you a specific result with specific steps. Ha! Like that ever happens in reality!

I talked to my Grandma yesterday, she’s so cute. She told me all about how the family was doing and she talked about Clairessa coming to stay with her in February for a month, so I know she’s already excited about that. Clairessa got to Toronto yesterday where she’s going to be for a month because of one of her med school rotations. I think she’s liking 4th year a bit better. Thank goodness. But I also think she’s happier now because she went back to eating some meat. From empirical evidence I’ve witnessed that being a vegetarian makes a person puffy and wrinkly and GROUCHY! If you want a more scientific and peer-reviewed case for eating meat then I highly recommend this book – ‘Good Calories, Bad Calories’ by Gary Taubes. (If you don’t have time to read the thick book here is a video of the author which covers a lot of what’s in the book ) I had so much trouble staying thin until I read this book. A rice cake with 30 calories would make me gain weight, but eating cheese with 1000′s of calories wouldn’t – that is totally against what popular wisdom says these days – but popular wisdom is just that, it is inherently popular but it is not inherently true.

Ryan got up at 4:00 this morning to fly some people to Monterey, CA. Quelle horreur! I compensated by getting up at 1:00 this afternoon. Between the two of us we woke up at 8:30, which I would say is fair. Right now I’m steeling myself to stand in line at Admissions at a College for a good long time. For the second time I have to prove to them that I’ve lived in California for more than a year. The last time I did this was two months ago! That’s okay I like standing in line. I LOVE it. It’s my favorite. Even though I moved to California in 2000 I have a little trouble proving that I’ve been here more than a year because my car is not registered in my name, my bank account and phone bills are way up in Los Angeles, I just got a new driver’s license, I cut my old driver’s license up, I just moved to my new home, and my old one my ex-husband owned so there was no paperwork to show I lived there. I am truly a persona non grata.

For courses I’m taking classical guitar, woo hoooo! Also, CSS(cascading style sheets) because it’s not enough to know how to use Adobe Dreamweaver to create a website, if you don’t have a good understanding of CSS then you’ve only got a very rudimentary ability to create webpages. I am not okay with that. Both these courses combined will only take up two nights of my week, so I think I can handle it with my workflow for Pacifica. At least I hope so, I feel so defeated when I have to drop a course.

The above photo is from three years ago, but it seems so much longer than that in my memory. I was in Miami and I remember thinking I was fat. Ha! I’m on the steps of the Vizcaya mansion, which if you’re in Miami is worth seeing and not much is.

What a day!!!!!!!!!! I’m exhausted. I can’t get the dog to pee today and class was a joke, a four hour joke.
What’s going on with my dog? I was in a rush to get ready for class this morning and I take her for a walk so she can do her biz and nothing happens, we just walk and walk and walk. I figure she is playing doggy games with me, so I let her know my displeasure before I leave for class. I get home 5 hours later and take her for a loooooooooong long walk, still nothing! How is it even possible to hold it that long? I shuffled around my entire 2 story home on my hands and knees feeling the carpets to see if they were wet anywhere. Awesome, that’s exactly what I felt like doing after four hours of insanity at school.

True story: My Prof Knows Nothing. I am pretty sure that he knows that Dreamweaver is a product which allows you to create and manage webpages, but that seems to be the extent of it. All through class the students who had never seen Dreamweaver before three weeks ago were telling him how to fix all the mistakes he was making, were solving the problems he couldn’t solve, and were asking him questions he couldn’t answer. Several large errors came up that showed he had a complete lack of understanding of the fundamental principles of the program. Even simple things like ‘dragging & dropping’ took him many long and arduous tries. We all laughed and shook our heads, but honestly I have zero clue how this guy thought he could teach a class on a computer program, when he has a very weak understanding of not only computer programs, but anything associated with how they or the internet work. Not that I’m upset by any of this, I’m just boggled.

The cherry on the exhaustion cake is that I’m still recovering from being really sick over the weekend – I spent my Saturday night in Urgent Care with acute pain in my jaw, teeth, ear, and neck from a bad inner ear and canal infection. They gave me a shot in my buttock to reduce the pain and that did work – after that I didn’t feel anything else I was so fixated with the pain in my butt.
